WebHemianopic alexia. When hemianopia (a loss of vision in half of the visual field; see Chapter 7 in this volume) affects reading, the condition is known as hemianopic alexia or hemianopic dyslexia. Sentence or text reading is most affected, as the visual field defect affects the patient's ability to plan and execute accurate reading saccades. WebAn analysis of patients with right-sided hemianopias and hemianopic alexia using Read-Right, has shown that the web-based therapy worked at a group level, with similar effect sizes as seen in the original, phase II studies: ~40% average improvement after 15 hours of therapy and ~50% after 20 hours.
